Any B8 S4's in DC/MD/VA
#12
On the B7, you don't have this luxury. You need a tune that addresses a multitude of things to generate power. Most of the tunes out there adjust timing, throttle, AFR, eliminate speed limiter, increase rev limiter and eliminate torque restriction in gears 1-2-3 on the RS4. That's about 6-7 changes.
The JHM tune makes over 130 changes to the ECU, including the added bonus of launch control right in the tune (video below is my B7 S4 with JHM 's launch assist).
There's a reason the fastest NA powered B6/7 S4/RS4 cars are JHM tuned. For further confirmation, who did APR turn to when their APR B7 RS4 SC kit wasn't 'working'? JHM. The JHM tuner turned the kit into a legit performer, from mid 12s @ 110 mph to 11.8 @ 116-118 mph. Just the tune.
So be patient.
p.s. the 1/4 mile is a great measuring stick for how mods help a car. Here's a list of the fastest B6/7 S4 times dating back 6 years. Are you starting to see a trend, in the tune column? lol
There's a nice comparison of docmike and my car when I had stock downpipes + FI catback...we both had LW rotors...but I was JHM tuned and he was APR tuned. Our ET was the same thanks to his superior driving, but check the MPH. With less mods my car was trapping 4 mph faster. Considering stock for the B6/7 was around 13.8 @ 102, you can see that his full exhaust + tune made a modest change.
Here's the JHM launch assist vid of my car.
