Anyone having issues with the P Zero Rosso?
Hi all,
First time post so please be nice to me
I have just taken off my 18" winter wheels and put on my 19" ones on my S4, which came with the Pirelli P Zero Rosso 255/35 ZR19 (96y) and i have immediately noticed that it can pull pretty hard both left and right when i go anywhere near a rut or any tiny little groove in the road. They are not the directional ones rather the asymmetrical ones and they are all mounted correctly (they have a little "outwards" sign on each) and yep - all facing outwards.
Anyone else notice this?
My fantastic Calgary audi dealer says i am dreaming it all up.....
Help please.....

That's called "tram-lining" and it's fairly common with high performance low profile tires. If you have ADS or Sport Diff, if you put the steering on "Dynamic" it really helps eliminate the effects of tram-lining by firming up the steering response.
Also, if you go to a performance shop, they can tweak the camber and alignment to reduce the effects, but ultimately it can't be eliminated.
(another side benefit of the sport diff).

Its tramlining. I have these tires on my car and I HATE them. The best thing you can do is play with the air pressure. Usually tuning that will help eliminate this effect. These tires are so loud I feel like Im driving a 4x4(yeah, I know, I am(sorta)).

Thanks guys, I thought as much. The only thing that worried me is that when i test drove 2x S4's, they both had the same tyres and this didn't occur. Thanks for the tip on the pressure, i will have a play tomorrow.

I have 255/18's on my B6 and I deff have the same issues on the highways around here, damn studs. This is something you just have to deal with I think with wider tires...those tires you have are some of the best in the world!

Unfortunately, this comes with the territory. Most sport tires I've owned have done this. What's worse is it gets worse as the tires wear more.
No real solution, except for the tire pressure thing someone mentioned. But you risk wearing your tires out faster and/or losing some of your car's built-in handling. I'd just try to get used to it and chalk it up to a good handling car.

I think tramlining is more prevalent with stiff sidewalls. I ran 255/18s on my B5 S4 with 3 different tires and only the Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S's tramlined on me. They had very stiff sidewalls. I have not noticed any tramlining with the 255/18s on my B8 S4. I am not running the OEM wheels/tires though.
