Default Audi Care

Hi all,
I ordered a Sprint Blue S4 in late August and it's scheduled to be at the dealer 12/7 although they said they are coming in a bit early. I was told it was inspected on 10/7, went on the boat on 10/13 and arrives USA 10/30. After that 1+ months to get to Seattle (which seems long to me!)

Question about Audi Care. What is it and is it worth the price?

Thanks.

There's a really neat website called "distances.com." You can put in two ports, like lets say Bremerhaven, Germany and Houston, Texas. (Since cars to Seattle come in through Houston) Then you have to put in a speed in knots. I'm guessing a good *average* speed might be like 15-16 knots since the max speed on those tubs is like 19ish knots. Anyhow, the voyage from Germany to Texas is about 14+ days.

Then, factor in the train ride on an autorack to Seattle, plus dealer prepping, I bet one month (or so) from Bremerhaven to your hands is pretty accurate.

Just be glad you aren't in California. *I* have to wait for my car to go through the Panama Canal and end up in San Diego before a truck ride to NorCal. That's like 3 1/2 to 4 weeks of travel time.

By the way ... what are the specs on what you're getting?

Audi Care is pre-paying for your regular scheduled maintenance and services through Audi (after the first one which is included in buying the car). If you plan to keep the car for 4+ years and you plan to take it to Audi for servicing, this is a cheaper way to go. If you want to finance your maintenance, this is the way to go.

If you plan to get service done elsewhere or won't keep the car for 4 years, you might not want to do it. You have to decide and buy it before you hit the first scheduled service, so you don't have to choose when you take delivery.

Unless you want to finance it with the car.

Thanks Chris and all.
I ordered Sprint blue, Black/black Alcantara, Prestige package, Nav, Drive Select, S-tronic, Driver Assist, Sport Differential, rear airbags.

My current car is 2001 S4 6 speed which is still awesome and is going to my 20 year old son (who is very excited!).

So exactly how much money does Audi Care save you, say if you were to not get Audi care, but still bring it to the dealer for all the checkups.

If you added it all up, a few hundred bucks spread across the 4 years of servicing is what it comes to I believe. AudiCare is $740 US.

Depends on what your dealer charges for service. My dealer showed a quote of $1200 if you paid for each service when it was due by todays prices. By that number it would save $460 over the 4 years.

My Sprint Blue 6MT is on that same boat 10/13 headed for Seattle. 12/7 at dealership is what I have been told as well. Looks like it gets on a train in Houston up to Seattle.

Damn Bruce, here's hoping mine got on that one too, my original date was 21/21 to the dealer, but I have not had an update in a month, I'll have to call and check.
