Default Audi MMI Map in 3D mode cuts off at the top?

Not sure what is going on... when I'm in 3D mode the top seems cut off, is this normal?

It looks fine when I'm in 3D mode and move around the map. It also looks fine in 2D modes.

I see that too. I think they are trying to simulate the look of the terrain going off into the horizon. Its like its showing a bit of the sky. i might be wrong, though....

yea seems like wasted space... when you use the center of the twist **** to move around the map it goes full screen... i'd rather have it full screen all the time!

Hi, this depends on the magnification level. If you zoom in deep enough, the horizon will vanish (I think it was 200m at the old MMI).

The graphics processor is likely not powerful enough to render the entire screen in a zoomed-out 3D mode, so it uses the fog to hide the limited draw distance.

It's a bird's eye view navigation - supposed to be like that. I too find it annoying and pointless.

Yep, it's the horizon and simulation the curvature of the earth. The GPU in there is the nVidia Tegra, it can handle far more than the navi maps are able to tax it with.

It bugs me too. A few pixels at the top maybe to show the day/night sky (maybe) but you don't need so much of it. Simply wastes space.

I agree that it appears to be a waste of space. Also, when I bought Nav, I though 3D meant showing POI buildinngs (e.g. like the CN Tower in Toronto) but it doesn`t. Live and learn.

It does show 3d POIs like buildings and landmarks. Be sure you have that turned on.
