this seems like it could be a reason... but it does just fine when manually moving around the 3D map with the joystick, so this can't be it...

If that's the case, then the use of the fog on the horizon is baffling. However, I have noticed that the map movement in 3D mode is fairly choppy when moving manually, which suggests that the CPU/GPU are being pushed to their limit by the 3D rendering.

On another note, does everyone have to turn the large MMI **** "out" to zoom "in"? Can this be changed to be an intuitive turn in to zoom in?

Hey do any of you guys have mmi nav plus package and find the 3D stays on 2D, at best? I have configured it about 3000 times but it's an internal thing and don't know how to fix it.
Any ideas?
thanks

As expected, there are few rendered buildings in my immediate suburban area, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Gillette Stadium pop up when I pulled into Patriot Place yesterday.
As others have cited, in the 3-D view at lower magnifications (greater distance) the curvature of the Earth (horizon) is simulated. Zooming in utilizes the full screen.
The nVidia GPU is more than capable given the 7" screen.

Wow. Really guys?
It's birds eye view and IMO it's far superior to the standard 2d map view. I mean, how is it not obvious that you are viewing it from an angle?
