The functions of the sport differential can be varied to suit the driver’s individual preferences. In the ‘comfort’ mode, driving safety & stability can
be optimized, with a smooth ride and comfort being priority. In the ‘auto’ mode the differential will proactively anticipate road conditions and driver
inputs and perform accordingly. Finally, the ‘dynamic’ mode truly emphasizes the sport features and will perform to its most agile ability. In this mode
you find out not only what kind of driver you are, but what the Audi S4 or S5 is made of.

Are the mode settings (comfort, dynamic, auto) only available in conjunction with the Audi Drive Select or are these controls also available separately on a Premium Plus S4 w/Sport Differential?

I believe you get the controls with the Sport Dif as well, but they more or less just adjust the settings for the differential.

They also control the shift points on an automatic; if you don't get the Sport Differential, then you have the D and S shift settings on the shifter. If you do get the Sport Differential or the full ADS, then the automatic shift settings are controlled by ADS.

I've been doing some research on the ADS and RSD and I can see how getting the ADS would dramatically improve the automatic. Anyone have any insights on 6MT with ADS or just with the RSD? I'm definitely ordering mine with the 6 speed and I'm pretty set on the read diff, but it's going to take some serious convincing to cough up the extra $4000 for the ADS for the manual trans.
