Default B8 S4 Mechatronics replacement

2010 MY, only 13K km on tach, last weekend had 'Gearbox malfunction'.....continue driving with limited functionality' message [20km/hr :-( ] .......resulting in deduction that Mechatronics change was the fix to problem.

Have read several threads related to same, on on here AW and AZ, but difficult to get good grasp of ;
a) frequency / quantity of B8 S4 owners who've experienced such problem, and
b) whether those that did have change done, still have trouble free driving [a couple of owners / readers say transmission should be changed if / when mechatronics is changed??]

Query;
1) Any recent B8 S4 owners/readers with similar experience - Mechatronics change?
2) Any said owner feedback that seems to validate that indeed Mechatronics on it's own is OR is not a longterm repair, that transmission does indeed also need to be replaced?

I've seen or heard of about 4-5 being replaced, one of those didn't fix the issue and actually had to have the transmission replaced.

Thx NWS4Guy. Think query is more or less settled ,from my perspective that is - & in relation to B8 S4 as opposed to other VAG DSG transmission similar issue. With over 200 reads and no similar experiences I must assume it's not a growing problem / issue and similarly assume that mechatronics swap out for new is permanent fix ( no need for more than that).

No, there have not been any rash of issues like how the water pumps and thermostats did. These seem to be pretty isolated and one-offs. The Mechatronic is a very delicate and sensitive set of hydrolic valves and electronic actuators that shift the gears in the DSG. Any small particles that get in there by being missed by the filters can cause havoc.
