I would love Audi to do this, but it's probably not on the horizon. With more stringent CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) requirements coming soon, they aren't about to put a twin-turbo V8 in the S4. All of the auto manufacturers are moving toward smaller blown engines to try to generate HP, but keep EPA gas mileage up. Audi was sort of ahead of the curve by forgoing the previous V8 and going with a supercharged V6 for the current S4.

I know this first post is a bit old:

but considering the existence of the TT Ultra concept at Wörthersee:

it seems like a lot of the fancy weight reduction using "space age materials" is becoming a reality.
If they can shave over 600lbs off of a TT how much would come off the larger 4 platform? 800-900lbs? A next gen S4 at an even 3000lbs would be pretty awesome.
I'm pretty interested in that twin turbo 3 liter diesel they have in the SQ5 as well (313hp, 479lb-ft)

The upcoming S3 sedan should also be mentioned here. It kind of fits the bill for the promise of a lightweight sedan with enhanced power.

The engine from the TT RS would be nice. Less weight, better handling. I doubt they would move down to a 4 cylinder but you never know. I have a test drive reserved for the new CLA AMG turbo 4 when it arrives, that should be a sweet car.
