I would like it to sound something like the S1, I love that fluttering sound it makes. An angrier smaller engine would be fine by me.

Audi was sort of ahead of the curve by forgoing the previous V8 and going with a supercharged V6 for the current S4.
Add to this the fact that smaller engines put less weight over the front wheels and the result is improved handling at the limits. More fun to toss around corners....

it seems like a lot of the fancy weight reduction using "space age materials" is becoming a reality.

If they can shave over 600lbs off of a TT how much would come off the larger 4 platform? 800-900lbs? A next gen S4 at an even 3000lbs would be pretty awesome.

I'm pretty interested in that twin turbo 3 liter diesel they have in the SQ5 as well (313hp, 479lb-ft)
No doubt weight reduction will be the name of the game, as it has been for a while now. With the last two A4 debuts, we were promised weight reductions. It's a given. The question will be how much of course.
The upcoming S3 sedan should also be mentioned here. It kind of fits the bill for the promise of a lightweight sedan with enhanced power.

The engine from the TT RS would be nice. Less weight, better handling. I doubt they would move down to a 4 cylinder but you never know. I have a test drive reserved for the new CLA AMG turbo 4 when it arrives, that should be a sweet car.
