What would be your choice of car if BMW M cars would offer AWD ?

Out of all M cars it's the new M5 and M6 that really need x-drive, 550hp and 700Nm is simply too much to ask from one axle unless the car was solely design for performance, which we know neither of these two are. But unfortunately x-drive isn't good enough for use in an M car and would require quite a bit of work to reach the standard of quattro.

I'm willing to forgive people for forgetting the X6 and the X6-M, even more so if it were BMW ![Wink](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
If BMW were to make an M3 with AWD, be it optional or standard, we will never hear the end of it from the M3 fans. A 70:30 rear-biased AWD would be nice to see in an M5 or M6, but I think that would end up driving up costs even more. Part of the reason why the M6 didn't take off (for a low volume M car) is the obscene price difference over the M5.

You can't just slap on an AWD system and expect it to work well just based on reputation. Case in point, the 335ix is not a better car than the S4/S5 just because it is from BMW and has the X-drive system. The M-series are what they are because of their driving dynamics, and with the X-Drive, the driving dynamic will change and it will most likely not be able to stay true to its M-series heritage.
Therefore, I will have to wait and see what the X-drive M-series can do in the real world before I consider making a switch from Audi to BMW.
