Buying Question
I posted earlier on whether to go for an 2010 or 2011. I think the 2010 is the one for me. I built one on website to get an idea of what I am looking to spend. Then looking at my local dealer inventory, they actually have one with everything I want, color, options, etc (Kinda Freaky)
Anywho, this is my first “New Car” I am buying so the process is new to me. Not wanting to go into a dealer looking like a square I have a couple of questions.
1. I read in the forums “Invoice” and “MSRP”. Are they the same or is “MSRP” the sticker price and “Invoice” what the dealer paid? When I see someone pay $800.00 over invoice I am trying to figure out what that means.
2. Building one on the website the total comes to around $56,000. Is that what I can expect to pay?
I also want to thank other contributors, I have read about maybe getting Audi Care included (Saying you are looking at a BMW and their maintenance included).
Is there other guidance or tactics I can use going in to get a great deal on my new S4?
BTW, this is what I am looking at
2010 S4 Prestige
S Tronic
Deep Sea Blue
Sport Rear
Thanks again to everyone that responds.

Buying...
MSRP is the sticker price, Invoice is what the dealer paid. I would go to www.edmunds.com, and build your car. It will show you the Invoice price of the car and the MSRP, it will also give TMV (true market value) the price paid for that car in your local area. Seems to me people have been paying a few hundred over invoice price ($300.00-$700.00). I got mine for $1,000.00 over invoice when I ordered it back in Sept. I'm sure you can talk the dealer down. Good luck, this car is great.

Members in the Phila area are making deals at $500-1000 over invoice. I have seen someone post that he got one at $300 over. Realistically, I would start at $500 over JUST BECAUSE the car is on the lot. I would not offer more than $1000 over invoice. Go edmunds.com to find out exactly what invoice is. Don't forget to add the destination charge. Sorry but I don't know what the D charge actually is. Tell them you are prepared to buy TODAY, ONLY if you get the deal you want. Also be prepared to walk out if they want more than $1000 over invoice. Good Luck.
