Do you NEVER open your windows or sunroof? There are plenty of times when you don't want you car to automatically adjust the temperature.

On rare occasion; it's usually extremely hot or extremely cold where I am. When I do feel like opening the windows I don't bother turning off the auto (probably bad habit from owning a convertible in hot/cold weather). Also, if I am turning on heated seats it's not likely that I have run with the windows down recently. I am not saying I'll never run into it, just not often enough to notice. I get though that some people like manual control or don't "get" auto mode.

I decided to try this out today. I pressed the driver side heated seat button. The climate control showed 0 on the driver side (no heat) and 75 on the passenger side which was the last temperature setting when using any kind of air. Yep, the air started blowing. I turned everything off and tried the passenger heated seat button and the air again came on but this time with a different setting b/c I had my side set to 70. I guess Audi assumes that if your backside is cold you'd have cold other parts and so the air vents come to life. If I had the temp settings higher from the last usage I would have gotten heat through the vents.
