Does anyone have any experience? I don't want to stream music, but if the USB <> Audi music interface connector can supply enough power for charging that would be a good solution for my phones which use mini/micro USB connectors (e.g. Blackberry bold, htc desire/magic).

It charges an Ipod/Iphone so I don't see why it wouldn't work for a cell phone

I've got some cheapie eBay ($.99) USB - cigarette lighter plug adaptors. Some of them work, some don't.

Yeah but USB chargers don't always play ball with USB devices, in my experience. E.g. my iPad charger will not charge my blackberry... So has anyone been using the USB connector to charge non i- devices?

I have a low profile charger that supplies up to 1 amp to the charging device which is more than enough to charge and stream. Something like this should more than cover you.

I have that for my current car (s4 is on order ) and it is pants. It won't stay seated in the socket and even if you do jam it in it won't charge my desire (which I think complains about too little current/power although it is apparently a 1 amp model). I was really pleased about some sort of charging standard, but I have to say I am losing faith.....

I have no problem with the belkin one. But as I got my Nexus S, I switched to a cheap *** micro USB cable and phone won't charge. Use the original cable and it work again.

The Apple connector in the S4 glovebox will charge the Ipod touch just fine, but is not designed for the Iphone 4. The connector slips off easily and triggers a popup warning about compatibility that must be dismissed be for the iphone 4 will charge at all. I had to buy a dedicated Iphone 4 charger. Buying redundant chargers is a leftover Commie plot
