Yes.... chipping the car will be possible.... Fairly big gains should come with just a tune, intake, and exhaust IMO... not much out yet unfortunately. Hopefully soon! later Ron

On the 2001 Audi S4 there were two seperate Motronic modules, the ECU for the engine and a TCU for the transmission. I had a reprogramed ECU chip & and TCU chip from GIAC. The TCU reprograming improved the shifting firmness. On other cars (like Mercedes and Mustangs) this was done in in only one module and ECU.
With the DSG, there may not be much need for special transmission reprograming.

sorry, what i meant was you can chip a engine or modify it with a automatic transmission. you see i thought you can only mod engines with manual transmission

One could reprogram the S4 transmission, but there is probably no need to, since it already has some adjustability and is currently plenty capable.
For 20 years there has been ECU reprogramming available for the engines & cars with automatic transmissions. Often the auto transmission was reprogrammed for more firm shifting, in addition the engine tuning.
In some of the earlier Audi models, the Tiptronic had limited strength, so one could NOT get two far adavanced in power improvement, before the transmission also needed to be beefed up. This severely limited the capability of the tiptronic 2001 S4 2.7T engine modififications, unless the transmission had major rework (and there were not many reputable rebuilders capable of enhancing the Tiptronic properly).
In some of the older domestic cars, like the 1999 Musatang, the (ECU) computer was just too slow (14MHz clock), to handle the rapid shifts. This also limited usable engine power improvements with an automatic transmission. If the sample frequency of the ECU system is too low, it cannot see the RPM rise from 2000rpm to 6000rpm in a few seconds.

It is a manual. The S-Tronic (DSG) is an automated manual. The computer shifts the gears and operates the dual clutches faster than is humanly possible. It has no torque convertor and is in no way at all like an auto transmission except for the fact that it changes the gears for you - aside from that all similarities end.
