You can purchase the automotive grade vinyl like the 3M that's mentioned in wider sheets.
They have 3" wide rolls but you can also find the 3M matte black in 1'-4' wide sheets. They do whole cars with the stuff.
To make something contoured look good it just takes a little extra work and a heat source to shape it.

Plus, it's completely reversible. The 3M adhesive is safe for automotive paint.
Whats not reversible about plasti dip?

Have you not seen the stealth fighter s4 thread over on audizine yet?

Is there something I or you are missing here?

The vinyl trim is available here, but takes a lot of care & patience to install;

http://www.bmwshadowline.com/purchase.html

It would be very difficult to put the vinyl trim on the mirror housings better to paint them (or plastidip).

I would never paint them, as I only want to do things that are reversible. And as you said the vinyl tape will be too tedious and frustrating to get right.

I have 3 cans of plasti dip, 2 black and a can of clear coat. Will probably do it in 2 weeks.

That makes sense. It will be interesting to see how clear coat works over the Plastidip
spray.

I purchased some primed 2011 A4 mirror covers. The Audi body shop painted to match the body and installed them for $150/pair. I still have my old mirror covers.

Yea its clear plasti-dip so it won't be an issue. I'd rather try this out for the $20 it cost for the cans, and If I don't like it just peel it off and move on. I'm interested in seeing what the rear valence in black looks like.

I've heard the plastidip is reversible. And no, I didn't see the other thread on Audizine.

It's just my shocked reaction to plastidip on an Audi... I've never seen plastidip look good. Always leaves a cheesy feel/appearance.
Something I've seen on a lot of Subarus or Hondas... just not Audis.

However, if it's 100% reversible and only costs you $20 I guess why not try it.

p.s. I realize the rear diffuser would be really tough to wrap.
You could also look into having it professionally painted. With something generic like a semi or gloss black you could probably get it done for around $100.

Maybe later on, I really don't want to deviate from stock and do something permanent on the body just yet.
