clutch nightmare

Yes, I drive a manual(its clearly in my signature). And I didnt disagree with either of your statements you posted above. However, we do not have hill assist in our car. Also, I can see how youre taking my statement very literally. So, Ill adapt it better: Once you slide it into gear(and your seatbelt is fastened) AND START TO MOVE it will disengage the parking brake.
"Starting On Slopes
When starting on inclines, the starting assist prevents the vehicle from unintentionally rolling back. The braking force of the parking brake is not released until sufficient driving force has been built up at the wheels."
So, as I said in my comment, this sytstem works as a hill assist sysytem- i.e. holding your car in place on a hill to keep it from rolling backwards. I never said that we have "hill assist" (a feature usually found on european Audi models).

The clutch and the flywheel were toast. It took the Audi dealership 18 hours to take it apart because they've never done it before on this drivetrain.
Total cost (to the hotel's insurance): $4400.

I had several vagcom mods done and one is automatic release of the emergency brake when the car is put in gear. In my DSG prior to the mod the emergency brake would automatically release when a) seatbelt on and b) foot on brake, now I don't have to have the seatbelt on which is handy when moving my car around on my property, mall etc where there is no need to wear the belt. I also vagcomed the seatbelt chime. Guys get this mod done as few people can figure out this electronic e-brake.

Glad they replaced the flywheel, I knew it would be nuked after that, and I am REALLY glad that the hotel stepped up and took ownership and responsibility.
I'll look for the parking brake mod, you know where it is?

My friend did the vagcom mods. I still have several to do. Try Audi enthusiasts.com that is where I got my list for our cars. There are several useful mods. Good luck.

Yep I know David who created the site, I hadn't seen anything about the brake though I haven't been over there in a few weeks. I'll find it, as there is an entire module for the parking brake, just thought if someone knew I could go right there rather than hunting
*** Edit - found it along with a few others for the parking brake (like releasing it manually without foot on the brake pedal)
