Hi All,
I just bought a full set of Continental Extreme DWS 18" all season tires for my 2013 S4 with wheels.
Unfortunately, They came from tire rack with varied tire pressures in them. Ranging from 32-38 lbs. I have already reached out to tire rack CS as these were supposed to be properly set and balanced prior to their leaving the warehouse. And yes I know things can change with shipping, but these tires will be subject to much more pounding and temp changes while on the vehicle then they could be subject to in shipping so having them vary so much is not excusable in my book. If this can happen with these under simple shipping then they are going back ( I doubt it though).
My questions is: Do I set them to what Audi recommends for their 18" tires or do I set them to what Continental recommends? The sidewall says 51 lbs psi which seems to be a max and not recommended average.
Constructive feedback? Thank You

If the wheel/tire size is the same as OEM I would absolutely go with what Audi recommends. Max Tire Pressure listed on sidewall is just the max PSI the tire will hold. I have the 19" on mine and the placard on the driver's door says 41 PSI but the owners manual recommends other pressures based on vehicle load. For example, 4 adults with baggage Audi recommends 41 PSI. Normally I'm alone in the car or have one passenger so Audi recommends less pressure. Hope this helps. Bottom line, do not put 50 PSI.

Thanks ..no way I would go that high. I am looking for cold temp recommendations. I rarely have passengers other than my little girl who weighs all of 45 lbs and my wife is teeny as well (just a little over double that)so not much to weigh the car down. I normally have the 19", but they are the performance Summer tires and I hear below 40 degrees they turn into hockey pucks so changed them out this week.
Major difference on how the car feels, but still want to get the best tire pressure for gas and handling. I was thinking 38 lbs.

Check the Owners Manual for your S4. I'd use the summer 245/40/18 rating not the all season 245/40/18 rating since though you don't have the 130MPH limiter they're counting on for the all season rating.

You should be measuring the pressure when the tires are cold, so the pressure would be the same all year. You do have to add/remove air as the temperature falls/rises to keep the cold readings the same all year. The difference is about 1 PSI per 10 degrees. So if you filled your tires to 39 and it was 70 out and then it dropped to 30, your pressure would read ~34 PSI and you'd have to add air to get back to 39. Not sure I'm explaining that well.
