Default Do dealers honor 2011 Zag pricing for 2012 order?

Hi all,

I am planning to go through Zag for my S4 purchase as that seems to be the best option for a "not so good at haggling" guy. It is unlikely but if I take the 2011 Zag certificate, would the dealer honor the price for 2012, as the production for 2011 has already stopped? I do not wanna wait till 2012 pricing comes out as that would push me further by a month or two.

Thanks,
Rahul

I would say no, since the invoice prices haven't yet been established on Zag.com for the 2012's. But... it wouldn't hurt to try! At the least it will get you in the ballpark. Go for it.

Zag pricing is relative to invoice, and yes it can't hurt to ask. They could promise the car at a price relative to invoice, but they probably have no real motivation to.

I wonder what promises the people that have already ordered 2012's are getting. They had to put some negotiated relative price in the order, but it's probably relative to whatever the MSRP is.

Most likely, once the 2012's are out, the Zag pricing for 2011's will be better relative to invoice than new model year 2012's (to clear out 2011 inventory).

Sounds like you aren't really in a strong bargaining position since you have a "need date." On the other hand, if the dealers are only going to order a 2012 at or very slightly below MSRP, you might be better off renting a car for a while and getting a better discount later.

Dealers in my neck of the woods are not affiliated with Zag.

I did however have no problem negotiating a deal on an ordered 2012. Invoice + 1K.
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to get a deal using Zag close to what the same deals are on 2011 relative to invoice.

Local dealer told me 2012 pricing won't be set (released) until the first 2012's are ready to ship (late July or early August) and he just got back from a factory trip when he told me this a few weeks ago. Zag pricing should be in the system by the time the first US deliveries are received into dealer inventory.

Beats me why Audi still doesn't have pricing set.

When the Audi website reflects 2012 models in virtual "build it" the Zag.com (includes Amex and USAA) invoice prices won't be far behind.

I'm getting a 2012 for 6% off MSRP (~500 over invoice) by way of the Audi supplier discount.

$500 over invoice for the A5 and $1,000 over for the S5 were the 2011 Zag.com sweet spots.
