not one regret from my manual tranny. glad my wife prefers it as well. it's just a matter of preference. i just feel so much more engaged shifting through the gears. now there are a few times where the s-tronic can come in handy like eating and driving. i hate eating in my car but sometimes it is crucial for my sanity. still i don't have any regrets at all

Wouldn't have it any other way. As much as I love this car, if a manual - oops a foot operated clutch pedal along with a H pattern floor mounted shift lever type transmission - wasn't available I would have bought something else.

I've read a few places that the 6MT gets better as the miles pile on and while i was skeptical reading this at first, 4k miles later, i have to agree. I don't know if it's just the fact that I got used to it, or the tranny loosened up a bit, or both. But the gearbox feels smoother, the clutch is super light and forgiving. quite a joy to drive.
With that said, my daily commutes do not require any stop and go traffic. If i had to sit in 30+ minutes of stop and go every day, twice a day, I'd *maybe* consider an S Tronic.

It's personal preference. Get what you want.

Love my 6MT but I also don't have a big city commute... Halifax NS is pretty easy traffic-wise. The DSG is a fantastic transmisson but for me I just get too much joy out of shifting myself... left foot needs something to do!

Thanks guys. I saw the clutch problem came up on another thread and was worried that they might not be as reliable as a DSG. I've already placed my order and it won't be changing.
