Default Driving on California highway 1

Hey guys, for the last week I've been on an amazing road trip in my new 2011 S4. My trip started in Colorado, quickly headed to southern California to drive the PCH/101 all the way up to Vancouver Canada. The drive thus far (I'm currently in mid Oregon) has been absolutely amazing, and the S4 has blown my mind in every way. Driving through Big Sur was nice and all, but the best part thus far was the drive on highway 1 between Almonte and Stinson beach (just north of San Francisco).

I'm sure some of you on this forum have done this drive, but for those who have not, let me say that you are missing out. Mountain road, steep and dangerous cliffside 2 lane road over looking the ocean, and windy as hell. What seemed like it was going to be a nice relaxed drive turned into the most exhilarating and out-of-control fun I've EVER had while driving. I was going about 10 over the speed limit (15-25 mph on average) when porsche 911 came up on my tail and passed me, so I decided to see how long I could keep up. Well, I think I pushed my S4 to it's limits and let's just say I more than kept up. The guy driving the 911 was dumbfounded, the more he tried to pull away, the more I stayed right with him. My S4 felt like it was glued to the pavement, with the sport differential and dynamic mode turned on, this car is unbelievable.

Anyways, just wanted to share.

P.S. Sorry for any grammatical errors, I'm typing this on my iPad..

The drive is amazing...I just did it from the Puget Sound area in Washington all the way down to Orange County, CA. I was amazed at all of the twisties. The section starting from Leggett, CA where HWY 101 turns into HWY 1 and takes you out to the coast is unreal. I can't wait to do it again some day.

A couple decades ago, I drove a rental down Hwy 1; were the mountains meet the ocean. It's pretty intense. I'd love to have my S4 on that road!

I did that drive last year in a Chevy Impala (rental car). Be aware I saw a number of CHP there. This one Mustang GT blew by me down by Big Sur and I saw him pulled over further up the road.

Truly one of the nicest rides in the country. Last year I did most of Oregon on the 101. It wasn't in a car mind you, but an RV. But at least you can snack and drink and pee while taking in the scenery. =)

I have done various sections of that road but never strung them all together. Great drive, especially in an S4

Your RV has a bar, a fridge, and a window in the bathroom? Wow! You've definitely taken multitasking to a whole new level! Do other people on the road wave when you're in there? :-p
