I was at the dealer yesterday, salesperson told me that they had been re-programming the DSG S4's to soften the shift firmness, this change was directed by Audi as apparently some initial customers were complaining about the transmission shifting too hard. He said it was not a durability issue. Not sure I like it, if I get one I don't want it to feel like a tiptronic.
I wonder if that that is a VAG-COM programmable item that we can switch back?? Any one else hear this??

I was notified about 37F1 service campaign code but they weren't able to provide any more info save that it was a transmission software patch dictated by Audi. He assured me that it was just an update & that there was no danger driving my vehicle "as is" (i.e. it is not a recall). My license plates are in & I have an appointment at the dealership tomorrow AM. I am going to discuss it with them face to face prior to having the patch installed & will try to post an update tomorrow.

I know one other person has stated that the shifts are too hard (enough that passengers complained) but I didn't notice this on my test drive.
You won't be able to touch anything that is a safety issue like transmission, airbags, brakes, etc via VAG-COM, this is locked out via encryption. It's why the tuners are having a longer time to crack in and get chip mods going on these.
