Extended Warranty on new S4

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a new S4 and was wondering around how much did people pay for the platinum extended warranty (6 year / 100,000 miles) if they got it. This is where dealerships usually make their money back from the discounts they offered you on the purchase price by padding the warranty. It was expensive, but I figure that the maintenance would be even more if anything did go wrong after 50k miles. I drive about 15k+ miles per year and wanted to make sure that I'm covered for a minimum of 4-5 years. They usually start with a high price and pretend that they are giving you a huge discount by knocking off 1/3 of the price to get you to buy it.

Bottom line. this is insurance, they are there to make money. They don't cover everything and the know what they are doing. If you can't afford to replace a 10k engine it might be for you...if you can its a losers game in the long run.

I had an aftermarket warranty on a previous car that I never used and got 80% of the money back BUT the company went out of business shortly thereafter and many warranty holders were screwed.
Audi wants about $6K for the comprehensive extended warranty that doesn't add that many extra miles and years to the standard. I'm really liking my new S4 and thinking of keeping it for the duration, but the prospect of late life maintenace costs has me worried. My current plan is to put $6K into a growth&income mutual fund (reinvesting the interest/dividends) set aside exclusively for fixing old Norbert when his S-tronic, sport diff, valvetrain, or whatever go belly up.
Can anyone convince me that paying for an Audi or aftermarket warranty is a better plan?

there a guy over at vwvortex who works for a VW dealership, and he sells VW warranties for a little over wholesale cost. I asked him about Audi warranties, and he said that while he doesn't sell them, he gave me the following info:
I do have a referral for you. My friend Steve Beckerman over at Princeton Audi http://www.PrincetonAudi.com
Their number is 609-688-3100
Please tell him Chris @ VW sent you so that you get the special wholesale pricing!
