This is always an interesting conversation whenever someone buys a new Audi and asks about the break in. Over the years I've come to the conclusion that there is nothing wrong with a more aggressive break in process. Nobody ever said to redline it. In fact, always say not to. The key is varying the RPMs. And there's certainly nothing wrong with that.
Talked to several techs and mechanics at Ingolstadt during my Euro Delivery, all recommend varying RPMs as the key.
Let's face it, it's going to be hard to drive it less than 3000 RPM all the time anyway. So enjoy the car!

It will get even better. Although the break in period technically is 1k miles, the engine will continue to "wear in for another" 4K miles or so. The first 1k miles are especially crucial for piston ring seating. But other parts need more miles to wear in and loosen up. Non engine parts as well.
