Getting nervous - Wholesale the 2011?
I posted a while back about not getting any responses to ads for a 2011 I was leasing. The residual is a lot lower than the wholesale or retail book, so we were thinking of buying it at the end of the lease.
I took the 2011 S4 to the Audi dealer when we got our new Audi and the used car manager said that she could only offer $1000 below wholesale due to the cost of the CPO program. Apparently dealers can only sell CPO cars. Said that I could do better either wholesaling or retailing. I bought the car at the end of the lease.
Well, after 2 1/2 months of advertising the S4, still no nibbles. I think I priced it below retail book, but even if I'm high, I would think someone would respond with a low offer. I'm getting nervous. Dealer will still buy for more than our residual and I'm still paying insurance and to keep the car pristine, it's in ministorage which also costs.
I'm in a strong Audi market (local dealer is one of the top sellers). Did the used S4 market collapse?

In August, my dealer gave me $6k for mine as a trade in on a new ordered 2014. 2010, model with 29k miles. Residual was $25.6K . Msrp of the car was $50k new. No nav , no B&O . Then put it on his lot and listed it for $ 40.5k . Don't think he would get that price. Traded it before lease was over. They gave me the impression that being a 6MT made it rare and more desirable???

Mine is an S Tronic, but it's Brilliant Red which dealer sales staff all say will move. There are (and I'm one of them) folks who love Audi's red. They were excited to get the car, but just couldn't make the numbers work for them and me.
Well, thanks to the old Interweb, at least advertising isn't costing much.

Just for a datapoint, this week Carmax offered me $33K and I just got a personal offer yesterday for $34K. Dealer is offering about $31K as a trade (trying to get a Q5 TDI).
2010 Prestige, sport diff, rear shades, wood trim, 29.5K miles, APR chip, short shift kit, rear sway bar, 19" michelin pilot sports with at least 50% tread.
