Could this be one of "our" ships? It left Bremerhaven on the 26th of October, stopped off in Emden and then Southampton before traveling across the pond to Baltimore. Now it's a few hours outside of San Diego just off the coast of Ensenada.
I was watching the Lapis Arrow also, but this seems like a candidate.
