Default Heading on a road trip... what's the "right" PSI for Pirelli P7's?

Manual says 41 cold... measured the psi on the tires and two were 45, the other two were 40.

It's 85 degrees out... where should my psi reading be on the Pirelli's?

Have a good weekend, all.

41 psi regardless of outside temps. Before any mileage has been put on the tires that day.

Wow really? I didnt even look at the manual. Funny this thread came up because I finally checked my air pressures after almost two months of ownership. Most of the tires were around 37. I thought that was way high from what I was used to so I put them all down to 34psi. Car seems to ride much smoother now and no drop in cornering performance.

41, really? That seems awfully high to me.

Default air pres-#

are you running 18 X 8 if so go 38 psi

if you have 17 X 7 go 35 psi

and as normal check tires while they are cool and check them at least once a month

saves wear and money/milage

Or just look at the recommended PSI in the door jam of the driver's door. I have stock 18's and it's also 41.

You guys realize the 41psi is with full load. Its much lower than that for regular load(ie: up to 3 passengers). With my 19's it says to put the front at 36 and the rears at 32.

I never ride with full load... usually 2 people most. So I adjusted PSI down from 42sh to 36-37 and ended up having my TPMS alarm go off mid road-trip. Guess I was asking for it. Taking the tire PSI on "hot" tires is never a good idea... rookie mistake. Went back to 41 and reset the TPMS.

That doesnt make sense. If you set your pressure at 36 BEFORE you drove then they would only get higher as they got warmed up. The TPMS alarm wouldnt go off when you increase pressure.

Also, just reset the TPMS when you set them at 36. FWIW, in my experience, it takes over 15lbs of pressure loss to make the TPMS alarm come on, if not more.

It means TPMS was calibrated for 42ish, losing this much set off the alarm. ANYTIME you adjust the pressure to what you want your tires to read as normal, you have to recalibrate the TPMS in MMI.
