Guys don't get completely freaked out. I have 51,000 miles on my B8 and I drove this car with the stock brakes all last winter thru some horrible conditions. Sometimes sub zero. I only experienced brake squeal 2 or 3 times and it was always very minor. Brakes heated up a bit and it was gone.

I have been on the forum for quite a while and I don't remember very many people complaining about their brakes last winter. There were a couple...but I would say it was an exception and not the norm.

Thanks guys. I'll post back if things get bad over the winter. If they do, I'll likely research some aftermarket, softer pads and see if that helps. I'd rather have to get new pads more often than have shrieking brakes. Assuming the pads are the issue (gotta re-read this thread and check elsewhere if the problem occurs).

I've been busy as of late, but plan to visit the Audi dealer tomorrow. My brake squeal is terrible now, warmed up or not.

What happened with your brake squeal dealer visit?

I thought that the "bedding" had helped as it was 0 degrees up here and below for a few days and I was fine. But I generally park in a garage both at home and at work so the brakes aren't overly cold.

I took the train in the other day and left my car outside at the station all day so they were nice and cold when I got back into my car (similar condition to the first few times I heard it). Yup ... you guessed it ... annoying brake squeal was there.

On another note, I was walking to my office building when a brand new Aston Martin drove by and braked a few times in front of me, and sure enough, lots of squeal.
