Default How long was your 'start production' date to 'delivered to buyer date'?

A friend ordered a BB B8 S4 (2012 MT6) and it went into production on Tuesday July 19 (yesterday).

He's curious when he should expect to pick it up? He lives in the greater Toronto area so it will ship to Halifax on the east coast, then be trained/trucked to his dealer.

Also what's the concensus on break in for the B8 S4?

Thanks for your input.

It's quicker than we might imagine. Once my car was built (earlier this year), it seemed like it was only about 15 - 20 days 'til it arrived at the port. It was weeks ahead of schedule, Saki.

My car was released for production on June 22. Actual production week was July 4. Shipped on July 13. Ship is supposed to dock in Houston on July 29 but looks like it may be a couple days early and car should be at the dealer around early to mid-August.

there is a schedule for each car that shows the schedule for his car (order, production, shipping, transit, etc.) His SA can email it to him. Mine did.

This is correct. My SA emailed me a list with each stage the car goes through and the corresponding dates.

good stuff. Do you remember the time it took?

They originally told him late August, but recently advised him it may be sooner. With it going into production this week, I'd guess the 8th of August or so, if there were $2 on the line. Just thought I'd ask you lot.

I'll take the car to the dragstrip in the fall and put down a decent manual transmission time for you all hopefully.

I am reading this off the order status update that I have received today:

Release for production: 07/08/2011
Port arrived: 08/15/2011
Rail unload: 08/30/2011
Dealer delivered: 09/12/2011

So looks like about two months from date built to date delivered.

Same shipping route as your friend. I also live in the GTA. Also a MY2012 6MT.

My car was

Released for production on 6/22
Production week of 7/4.
Ship loaded 7/13.
Port arrival ETA 7/29.
Dealer delivered approx 8-7 to 8/15.

They no longer deliver them by rail I've been told, and the dates from port arrival to your dealer are somewhere around two weeks give or take a few days. Audi is very conservative with their dates. I would be shocked if it took a month from port arrival to your dealer.

Mine arrived at port Saturday was at dealer early Monday; but dealer was only 100 miles from port.
