I want an S4, but it makes no sense
After a little research I just went through, I thought it would be
beneficial for some to get more informed.
I really wanted to come back to Audi. I like the current S4,
I used to have one a few years ago. Nice interior, good
driving, a classy car. I hate one specific Audi dealership,
but it's another story...
But...
Those are May 2011 lease numbers on two cars.
I don't have any intention to compare the two here.
Let's just say, the 2nd car is a loaded BMW M3.
The first car is pretty much fully loaded S4 Prestige.
Those are deals I'm getting, I think I can do a little better
on the S4, maybe $10/month better.
Both deals are zero down.
Audi S4 Prestige: $62500 msrp, selling price $60000
36 months 10K/month - 0.00120 money factor 51% residual
$978.42/month including 9.75% taxes
BMW M3 loaded: $71625 msrp, selling price $67150
36 months 10K/month - 0.00145 money factor, 62% residual
$870.86/month including 9.75% taxes
A $10K more expensive car is $100/month less expensive.
The residual difference is simply incredible.
I hope Audi look at this and make some changes.
Actually I know they will look at this.
I hope they will make some changes.

IMO, both deals are idiotic considering that you're getting 833 miles/month. The BMW residuals are generally very aggressive which is why over 1/2 the business is leasing. Audi is probably a bit pessimistic but AFS doesn't want to eat the car on the lease return.
Also remember that your numbers are showing a greater percentage discount off MSRP for the BMW versus the Audi.....which helps a bit more.

Seeing that you are leasing, it is all about what you are getting and what the cost will be for the lease term. The BMW will cost you about $3600 less. Plus you will pay less in maintenance(Audi Care is about $800) and more items(brakes, rotors wiper blades) are covered on the BMW. It really looks like the M3 is the better VALUE. But is it the right deal for you? If you want a track car that you can drive on the street. The M3 is the better car for you. If you want a all weather daily driver that you can track, the the S4 is the better car FOR YOU. As far as the numbers are concerned. Have you checked with any other dealers as far as the numbers you are quoting? If not, you very well MIGHT be able to get a better lease deal??? Also, if you decide you would rather have the S4, you can get lower lease rates by extending you lease to 42 months or eliminating some options (Like the $3k ADS which the M3 doesn't have) which you really don't need. Both are great cars. No wrong choice. Not sure which will actually be more suited to your needs. BTW, you didn't mention whether the M3 was a coupe or sedan. IMHO, the coupe looks great. The sedan is not pretty. I noticed your screen ame was snowboarder. If you are planning on using the car in winter to get to the slopes, the s4 is the clear choice. And BTW, A chipped S4 will give the M3 a good run for the money. Did I mention that the M3 has a gas guzzler tax and gets very bad gas mileage.

BMW has always had higher residuals. It's not that the S4 has poor resale. The exact opposite is true.
You might be able to sell the S4 and make money at the end of the lease. Also, trading out early is a possibility on the S4.
Lots of BMW owners are stuck in their cars and it's tough to trade out early. Audi sales are stellar. S4's are more limited production and they are not a dime a dozen.
Audi doesn't want to subsidize it's cars with phony high residuals. It's Audi finanical model to be profitable and get a fair amount of money for their leases.
BMW has been bribing its' customers for years to buy it's cars with cheaper leases. Audi simply doesn't need to. The M3 is a stellar car and can't say bad things about it. It's the better lease deal and couldn't blame you for buying it.
Cars are expensive and buy what makes you happy. I'd pay $100 more a month if I really liked the car.

Enjoy your M3 and do come back and visit. I have always find troll threads to be marginally entertaining, sort of like slapstick comedy.
BTW, if your intention is to have "Audi change their ways", you will have a better chance of doing that by taking your research to your dealership, and have them work something out for you. Making a thread on AW will not get you the deal you want.

When leasing BMW will always win. They have so many different incentives like great MF and residuals and the ability to put down MSD's to increase your money factor. You can get an 82k e93 vert 36m/15k for abut $720/month because of their sick residuals. Last nov, the e93 had a 66% residual. People were leasing them for as much or a little more than a regular 335. A z4 35is 24m/10k has 82% residual for this month and people are getting them in the $300s. BMW is the ultimate leasing machine.
If you look at ALG or KBB, audi actually has better residuals on the s4 and s5 compared to BMW, bmwfs just inflates theirs to drive more volume. At Audi's production volume, there's no way it can sustain profits.

M3 in snowboarder climates (even if its only half the year) = poor choice I think. Since you're counting pennies on the deal in the OP, this is likely your daily driver.
To that end, get the S4 if you live anywhere north of Virginia latitude...but get the M3 if you live anywhere else.
