Something we've all suspected- no conclusions in article, but same thought logic....

That was my dyno run (you can search the forums for it), but mine was also done at 67 degrees, high humidity, and the engine nice and hot from driving - all much less than optimal factors.

One thing I have not seen mentioned is that those calculations based on 1/4 mile time, HP, and weight do not take into account the HP/torque curve. A car with high low end torque with the same peak HP will be faster than a car with lower low end torque if they both weigh the same.

We have mentioned that before in previous conversations....333chp is just not enough to energize a 4000+ car to a 12 sec 1/4 mile, even taking into account friendly of torque curve.
Like i've said before, a 3700lb, 390 "conservatively rated hp" (many dynoed at 370-385 at the wheels- stock) supercharged Cobra did 12.9 in 04. Hp/torque curves are roughly the same the same, 6 speed also.
AWD is not that big a factor, when it is trapping at 109mph either...
I firmly believe this car is underrated.

According to the table in this article http://auto.howstuffworks.com/horsepower2.htm
The power-to-weight ratio for a high-performance car, that has 0-60 time of 4.9 sec, is around 0.1.
Since S4 weighs 4000 lb, the horsepower should be about 400hp.

According to that article, a DSG S4 weighs 3924 lbs. plus say 5 gallons of gas is about 40 lbs. plus say a 200 lb. driver would equal 4164 pounds times .1045 equals...435.138! What?
Even just use the car weight of 3924 and it comes out to ~410.
Odd. Something's wrong there. Probably the multiple I assume.

I have seen road logs from 3 6MT B8 S4 cars that put the WHP in the 290-300 WHP range. There is no way that a 333 CHP AWD car can make 300 WHP.
one log (dgibbs)

two logs (mine and Keith from APR)
http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4b8/msgs/6305.phtml
dgibbs is measured with a VAG (VCDS). Keith used a Racelogic Pbox (GPS based. I used a Gtech RR (accelerometer based).
