S4:1 / S5:0

We can put this to rest now.... 0-100'ish. We were both first at a red light on a feeder road so there was no trafic in front of us.

No it wasn't an A5.
No idea if it was a stick or DSG.
Yes he was racing.

And........ I did all this while slurping on a diet coke from Chik-Fil-A!

And too be honest he kinda got the jump on me. Luckily I had it in sport mode already.

How close are we talking? At what point did you pass him, and how hard were you pulling on him? Was it constant or was he keeping close until shift points?

We want some DETAILS man!

I too will mirror what was said in this post about the S5. I was like 100% set on the S5 back in August 2010 and test drove it and felt the same thing that it wasn't fun to drive at all but was still set on it because it's a beautiful car inside and I. I went in for another test drive like 2 weeks later and they just got in a new 6MT S4, I test drove that and was sold on the S4.

LOL! I suck at telling stories so I will apologize in advance.

Uh.... we were at a light, I saw him roll up (my twin minus 2 doors), we sat through a long-ish light, you could tell he was ready to run as the car kept inching forward ever so slowly.

Usually I watch the opposite traffic light so I have a better idea of when my light will turn green but in this case I didn't.

For a split second I heard him raise his RPM's (exhaust got louder) and my brain said he's going to run and at the same time the light changed. He got a split second jump on me BUT all I had to do was mash the gas (almost spilled my Coke!!!) and take off.

1st, 2nd, 3rd I was about 2 car lengths ahead of him from what I could tell. I slowed for my u-turn under the frwy and he slowed to catch the next light. I gave a short "honk-honk" to say thanks but don't know if he heard or cared or whatever.

I don't think he did a clutch dump or anything abusive to his car to take off but I do know he WAS racing.

The absolute funniest thing to this whole encounter was I literally had a drink in my right hand, driving with my left and listening to SADE on the stereo and never had to change anything. DSGFTMFW!

I started the thread on the S5 forum that's being discussed here. A day does not go by that I don't think about the exhilaration I felt driving the V6T. Plenty of future S5 buyers are expressing concern about buying their new S5's before Audi removes the V8. I suspect, that like me, they did not drive the marvelous V6T or they would have a different opinion.

Went from a 2000 S4 to a 2008 S5 and now to a 2011 S4. The 5 was too big, too clumsy. The B8 is perfect.
