Default lamin-x for taillights

I am thinking about putting some lamin-x on the taillights of my S4. On Lamin-x's website they have precut overlays for the B8 A4 but not the S4. If I ordered the A4 overlays would they fit on my S4? My gut says yes but I thought I should ask here. If anyone has done this before, does the lamin-x cover the bottom part of the taillight that is exposed?

To my knowledge the Class A (lens external) surfaces for S4 and A4 are identical, the only differnce being S4 has LED lighting - so the A4 has different Class C (lens internal) surface cut & reflector optics. The latter has no neg impact on using same A4 cutout application of Lamin-X on the S4, as I can understand.

Have not done myself, but looking at cutout in your link, the Lamin-X does NOT reach / cover on underside of lens you refer to. By design a) there is NO light leak from that area and b) it is already blacked out - looks like lens overmolded onto black or simply black shielding on inside of lens i.e. Lamin-X covering that underside area has no merit, hence it seems why not included in the link you provided.

I must be missing something, but why do the tail lights need to be protected?

+1. I think some people just go way overboard in adding things to their car.

Well, I think most of the ppl who do Lamin-x to their tail lights are doing it to change the look, not to JUST protect it.

Not doing it to protect the taillights. I want to make them darker.

Go look at the "My build thread, Ibis white B8 S4" thread" on Audizine, by Rabbit222, lot of info on this mod there.

I was under the impression that he just bought sheets of lamin-x and cut it to fit. I'm more interested in the pre-cut sheets so I can just apply it and not have to mess with it.
