Took my new ride out to an industrial park close to home this evening. Wanted to try out the launch control for the first time.
I had been under the impression that it wasn't available without ADS but after doing some homework on the boards I realized that I had it. Then it was cemented the other day by Audi's release of supplemental manual page with detailed instructions (props to audi for this).
So off I went, Traction control off, put in S mode (most you tube videos suggest manual mode) but i followed the audi instruction. then brake down, gas down and then release brake.
What was interesting is the lag. I found there to be a slight delay in the rpm reaction to my depression of throttle before leveling at 3k on rpm. Then lag as I released the brake, (I released the brake quickly) , but the car didn't respond for a second or two. then BOOM.
It just completely took off, hit 60, then 80, then I engine braked...
Alll in all a completely bad *** experience, fantastic acceleration, but was the lag normal in both places? Guess I will have to find out tomorrow

very cool, have been out of town and havent had a chance to test it out....curious as to how it does on the track...e.g. how real the improvement is vs quoted 0-60, 1/4mi,...

2011 - 2012 s-tronic have it, tested it out this morning i do not have DSG or sport diff, just read the insert audi sent out for the manual, its floating around on the forums, its pretty cool, but nothing i would really see myself doing all that much, the S4 is just a beast to begin with, its my DD, hense my im an idiot post the other day, and again today a plastic hub cap flew up off the road at the perfect second as i was driving and scratch up the front lower ground effect, i guess when you live in NY it never fails, you try and keep a car as nice and new forever but its nearly impossible(at least in NY, and the the boondock NY like upstate)

Yeah i never got this page but I am going to try it today. Never thought i had the ability because not having the ability to put my car in dynamic would stop me but this says put it in dynamic or in S which I can do.
This could be fun.

The acceleration was brutal anyway. The first time I tried it my head just slammed hard into the headrest. but with the delay it won't be too useful if you want to drag race.
