I just tried it. I did it two times. The first time it was cool but not impressive but i prob messed up somewhere and may have let off the gas to early.

The second time my head slammed into the headrest and i was like oh god dam.

After the second i smelt a little something from the car, like a slight burn smell but it was gone in under 5 seconds.

All in all very fun and I dont plan on doing it often. More of something to just show people and then not do again lol.

But I was impressed.

I offered to test this with my pbox last year (regular launch off idle vs. launch control) but nobody stepped up.

maybe tsivas can do this as he has a pbox right now and there are a few cars with launch control in his area

Mine arrived in the mail today as well. Told the wife I'm now officially sanctioned by Audi to use Launch Control (she wasn't buying it though!) ...

The acceleration was brutal anyway. The first time I tried it my head just slammed hard into the headrest. but with the delay it won't be too useful if you want to drag race.
It's not 1 full second and it is comparable to stomping on the gas from a standstill as there is a delay also... As for drag racing, if we are talking about at the strip, this can be timed easily based on the tree and in some ways be a benefit... on the street, not so good in the wrong situation... IMO and from what I have read/seen LC is no better than and may be slowe if not timed right, then launching off idle...

That would be cool... My $'s on a push to idle launch winning...

1fastrs4 60ft times with LC and 100 tune, intake and exhaust:
1.746,1.785,1.785,1.792,1.766, and 1.761 for an average of 1.773

My 60 ft time with the same mods in worse DA with no LC
1.763,1.781,1.739, and 1.747 for an average of 1.757

Not statistically different and we had the same mods and ran the same ET's(within a few hundreths) The Audi LC is nothing special... aftermarket, will see I hope...

My thought is "it can't be good for the transmission." Of course Audi doesn't mind because after your warranty runs out (because that's the way it always goes) "poof!" 15K please for a new transmission! I think in that little insert I received in the mail it says somewhere in there...will put stress on moving parts or something like that...hint...hint...

The sport diff does not determine availability of launch control. As I mentioned above, it is purely a function of 2011+ S-Tronic equipped cars.

BTW, DSG is the S-Tronic. DSG stands for Direct Shift Gearbox, sometimes referred to as a DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission). This is different than a normal automatic gearbox as no torque converter is involved.

Default Launch Control Operation

I have a 2013 S tronic with sports diff and adaptive susp. I can't seem to locate the "Launch Control" instructions in my manual. did they not add it?

If so is it that easy to use. Take off traction control, put foot on brake and other on gas, let brake go, enjoy the smoothy goodness of being blasted into your seat?

Caveat:

Do not use more than 3 times a day?
