Launching 6MT - question

Does B8 S4 have some sort of transmission/clutch protection built in? I know with TCS on, it'll only rev to around 4k - but restriction is gone if the TCS is off.
I rev to around 3k or so then drop the clutch and floor. But an article that I was reading on inside line gave me pause.
"Turning off stability/traction control also removes launch rev limiter. However, electronics still protect drivetrain once the clutch comes out through throttle manipulation and clutch damping. Very respectable numbers with stability control on or off. Incredibly responsive engine. Good shifter."

So I can just rev to 4k or so and drop it? I know engine still bogs little bit when I launch at 3k. Anyone with experience to comment?
