Default Manual tranny....smoothness.

As far as the people who said they love the manual in our cars, I have one and I find the shifting 1st-2nd I have to release the clutch much more smoothly than any other car I have ever owned for it to shift extra smooth. Especially when the tranny is hot. They replaced the parts that were causing all the clicking and creaking in the pedal but its hard to shift smooth between those 2 gears. I beleive it may be due to the drive-by-wire not being so responsive feels like the throttle comes in late almost like clutch has double engagement points. Maybe someone with a Sprint booster or dynamic mode in car can chime in for me. I do not have the sports diff.

All I can say is that I'm not experiencing this.

Could be an issue? Bring it in and see if the dealership agrees with you.

Nothing like that with mine either. The shifter seems to have loosened up with the miles and the feel/function is excellent.

I don't experience this either - it's even smoother when the car is in dynamic mode.

I don't have the problem either. BUT, you may want to try this. The B6 s4 6MT had a notchy 1/2 shift. It could be alleviated by putting pressure toward the left side of the shift gate while shifting 1/2. So instead of pulling the shift lever directly back, pull it back and toward the left. Can't guarantee it will work on the B8, but it did with the B6. Probably not the same trans. Alternatively, hesitating a a naosecond between 1/2 would also help. If this doesn't help, you may have a bad 1/2 synchro.Let us know if it helps.

Taking it into the dealer to try and open up the TSB on my car... Prob have to drop the tranny and replace the extra bits. It had to go in anyway to replace Gauge cluster assembly

just shy of 6K.

I am going in for the creaky clutch TSB soon. Hopefully that does not cause any issues with my tranny as I love it the way it is, although it is a pretty loud creak.

Well if they do the full TSB (dropping the tranny) I hear this actually fixes the problem. My car had just a pin replaces and the creaking stopped but shifting still not smooth 1st-3rd
