Mine shifts great in all gears (hot or cold). I really like the shifter. It has worked just fine since I got the car (both before and after the TSB). Going in for 15K service this week. Had the TSB done for squeaking and they replaced the throwout bearing also at the time.

My 1-2 shifts were pretty rough for the first 1000 miles. I too noticed that I had to "feather" the clutch more than usual to get really smooth shifts.
It's gotten better over time and I've learned that shifting sooner (~ 1.5k RPMs) and shifting QUICKLY also helps.
