S-Tronic is beefier
I agree with Bruce - that sounds very unlikely. I have been mod'ing these cars since my first 91 TQ avant, and they are the most mod-friendly cars I have ever experienced. While I have had sunroofs stuck open (in the rain) and all kinds of stripped hardware, I have never had a single problem with the manual transmission. Personally, I think it is the best car to mod, and the only cars where I have never "ruined: the suspension. Please tell me if I am wrong about the 6MT, otherwise I will assume it is as bulletproof as all of the past trannys (with admittedly sloppy shifts and only-ok feel). Thanks.

Here you can see how the MTM S4 B8 handles from a roll vs the Bmw M3 E92.
It think it's quite impressive : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ge84DQzqD8#

True, but overpriced in USA ECU upgrade market which has been around for along time. example: http://www.giacusa.com/software.php?make=audi&modelid=2 ECU SW upgrades are typically in $600 to $800 range. I think somewhere around $1000 is more tolerable for this car. ECU upgrades in europe are also way more expensive than here for some reason. As I said above, when the other USA tuners come out, there will be some better pricing. I personally think that using a piggyback ECU offering is kinda hokey.

But I am not sure about the piggy back system being the inferior setup. IMHO, with this system, there is no downtime for the install, and it also makes resale much easier as it allows the owner to sell it separately and not have to find another ECU to take its place. Also, MTM and ABT are not new to Audis and I think there must be a reason that they both decided to use the piggy back system as oppose to chipping or flashing the stock ECU. We will just have to wait and see if other tuners can come up with a better solution than MTM and ABT.

With 3 models (A6, S4 & S5) sharing the engine, I too agree that it is only a matter of time before other tuners jump into the tuning war on these V6Ts.

From what I heard, MTM chose to go the piggyback route so they did not have to crack the ECU encryption/protection. Hence why it's "inferior".
First chip/piggyback to $1000 with guaranteed warranty, I'm in.
