I have never used a radar detector.
I thought Beltronics had stealth radar detectors, that produce very little RF emission and are hard to detect by the police? At one time, they were located in Ontario. Apparently, there are radar-detector detectors used in Canada?
Last night I was driving down the freeway, with my cruise control set to 72mph in a 65mph zone & a CHP passed me on the left going maybe 4mph faster.
I often run 5% to 10% over the speed limit, but sometimes not over the limit. School zones I run 25 mph or less only.

There are definitely radar detector detectors. Spectre is the most common in use. See http://www.stalkerradar.com/spectreIV/redirect.html
There are several types of non-detectable detectors. Non-invisible detectors 'leak' RF emissions. I'll defer to the RF engineer geek types on the specifics - I believe there is one of those on this board, as he himself tells us.
Invisible or stealthy detectors use the M3 antenna platform which does not leak any RF energy. The most notable of these is the Escort Redline and 9500ci, and their Bel counterparts the STI Driver, STI-R, and STI-R Plus (Bel and Escort have merged - they still have separate product lines but it's kind of like a GM thing, different model names but same guts inside). If it's not one of these it's likely detectable. Of note the lauded V1, while a great detector, is NOT invisible. It does have other advantages though.
Again, I recommend www.radardetector.net.

Sucks man, let me know where you were exactly. I also know of a couple of good local people who specialize in making these tickets go away in the greater Seattle area - shoot me an email at work.
