Default Nav system tips?

I just bought a 2009 S4, finally giving up my beloved 2001 S4. Love the car, but in my old ride, I had a Garmin nav system -- incredibly easy to use, and very useful even though not integrated in the car. The Nav system in my new car seems very complicated, and I wonder if there is any easy source for how to get the most out of it. For example, can it search for a particular restaurant or type of restaurant? Direct you to the nearest gas? These are often very convenient capacities. Thanks for any advice. Chris

once you are in nav mode scroll down to "points of interest" option. From there you should be able to find categories like food, drink, gas, dealership. You can further this by searching by name too, I forget where but I have done this (e.g. "in n out")

I think it defaults to the closest locations, including directional arrows

Thanks, dman -- I will try it! Chris

You can also program what you want to show on the regular map view...
ex. hospitals, gas stations, etc...this definitely saves time

3rd gen MMI? Try these voice commands.
I'm hungry. I need gas.
Those will find you locations that are close to you. Say "next page" to go to the next page. The new nav is awesome. I've gotten ridiculously good at it already.

Found a great little sub site on Audi.com which has movies that showcase the features (like Voice Command and MMI3)

Ugh, poor flash implementation, the bottoms of the movies (and subsequent text showing what they are) is cut off of the lower row

Oh well they are mostly all worth a watch, but for this thread, specifically the one on MMI and Voice Control.

Just go to Experience > Innovation > Technology Defined

It should display correctly then.
