So I'm trying to get a newer car next month and its come down to these 3
2013 S4 DSG W/O Sport Diff 39k miles
2012 E92 335i M-Sport RWD Auto 32k miles
2010 E92 M3 6MT 28k miles
Power
S4 has 333/325
335 has 300/300
M3 has 414/295
0-60
S4 and 335 have nearly the same 0-60 time. Mid to upper 4s.
M3 is in the low 4s
My thoughts
The m3 is my dream car. I've been looking for the perfect one forever. This is close. This cars specs are exactly as I wanted: 6mt, white on red. But I also wanted the LCI ZCP. Also being a 6 year old car that may be certified age may be a factor. It is also the oldest and most expensive. All these cars fit my price range of 30-40k. I drove the s4 and loved everything about it especially the alcantara seats that hug you. I have driven the e92s though. I don't mind the awd if there's power but I prefer rwd. These cars are optioned well enough for me. It's just a matter of getting an older ///M car that I love for a good amount of money or change brands into something newer thats just as good but higher mileage.

If you don't really need AWD, get the M3. If you do, the S4 is a better daily driver, but I would definitely recommend getting one WITH a sport dif. Actually, the N55/N55 engine is rated @ 300 hp , but based on performance, it was always understood that it puts out around 333 hp based on matching the performance with the older E46 M3 which had 333hp. Most believe the 3.0 SC engine puts out somewhere in the vicinity of 380 hp and performance is pretty equal the E92 V8 under 100mph. And with a tune better. Regardless of which you buy, I recommend getting an extended warranty. German cars can be expensive to repair when things go wrong.

Owned a 335i coupe, between that and the S4, performance was comparable for sure, but I find the S4 is a much better DD, interior is just way nicer IMHO. Driven V8 M3 and love the howl, feels much more like a track car and if it had AWD, would buy one for certain.
It comes down to what YOU want, and if you can buy your dream car, do it: "life is too short to marry ugly, drink bad beer and not drive the car you really want at least once".
