Default New Front Brakes on 14' S4

Hey! I need some advice on some good brake pads to buy. I will not be changing the rotors. I also will be leaving the rear brakes since they are fine. I would prefer better performance over less brake dust, but less brake dust would be nice Any suggestions? Thank you!

To be honest, I've tried other brake pads and I just wasn't satisfied with the performance. Yea the stock pads dust like crazy but all the good low dust ceramic pads like akebono and stoptech will noticeably reduce brake performance.

I run stoptech slotted rotors on stock pads. Very happy

Sounds pretty much like the common sense approach wins out on this one. The Audi pads do exactly as designed. Designed to bite, bite hard on that first hit, and keep on biting.... just do not ride them or get them to hot....

Default Our 2014 S4 is a lease...

Needed new pads and rotors on the front at 15k. Went with OEM and it is fine. If we decide to keep the car, I will upgrade all four corners. But for now, standing pat with OEM. Lease ends in a couple months.

Heating isn't much of aproblem if you have good rotors than can cool down really fast like the stoptechs

Akebono ceramics might be a good compromise for the street.

15K miles is all you got from the pads? Is that typically? Front pads on my previous car lasted 60K miles (335i) albeit I had manual trans. I'm hoping for the same on the S4.

Default I think that it is very dependent upon use...

Because we use the S4 and RS5 in the canyons on weekends, those 100-150 mile drives are hard and aggressive… blast out of the corner, and break hard for the next turn… repeat 500 (+/-) times in a run. My first A6 in LA, a 2012 3.0 Supercharged I leased for three years and didn't have to replace the pads at all as I had not yet discovered the canyons. I only replaced the tires once in the A6 at about 25K miles. Our S4 just hit 31K and I put on the fourth set of tires this weekend.

Happy Motoring

Eric

I've never seen more than 30K from a set of front pads and rotors on my S4 and it's my daily driver.
