I change mine every 5k and use Mobile 1 0W-40. Typically, I'll wait until Advance or Auto Zone has a 5Qt sale with filter for $30 or so and stock up. The owner's manual allows for three weights. 5W-40, 0W-40, and 5W-30. My wife's BMW X535d takes Castrol SLX Professional OE, only available at the BMW dealer but could be used in the S4 as it meets/exceeds 502 00, 504 00 et al. I would use Mobile 1 in Canada; all the time.

My question is how often do you want to change oil and why. Highway driving is not stressful to your engine. Owners who have sent their oil to Blackstone for analysis have received reports showing the oil still being protective above 7.5k miles. Since Audi will change your oil every 10K miles with Audicare, changing oil every 5k would still be overkill.
I don't have Audi care anymore since the car is at 81k

Hello All,
I'm looking to change my oil more frequently, which means I'll be doing it at home Just wondering what everyone's personal preference is. I live in Toronto.. so keep in mind the weather gets insanely hot and cold. I mainly do highway driving and tend to push the car
I've been pondering Lubro Moly Voll-Synthese 5w40. Any thoughts?

I'm partial to the Castrol 5w-40. When I used the mobil 0w-40 I found that I was using a little more oil and had to add before the next oil change. I haven't had to do so using the above mentioned Castrol. just my two cents.

FYI, Mobil 1 is not 100% synthetic . It contains some highly refined dino oil. Still a good product.

True. I was thinking it would be like all season tires. You'd get better performance if you use summer tires, and when you need better grip in the snow, snow tires are better than all seasons.
Would I notice a difference if I use a "summer oil" and a "winter oil" (if that even exists!)
