Ordered VagCom & Radar detector today
I've got a 12 hour 1 day road trip in February and bit the bullet today & ordered a new radar detector (Escort Passport 9500ix), VagCom cable (HEX-USB+CAN Interface), Veil G4 anti-radar coating for headlights, & Photo Blur license plate cover. Now I just need to pick up a cheap laptop for use with VagCom. Here's to hoping for no tickets & little difficulty making some minor changes to my Prem+ S4 settings! Wish me luck!

Wow, you're really getting prepared.
I'm not familiar with these options, except for the VAG-COM cable. I'm not going to ask you if you find them effective because you just bought them, so I have to assume you do. Where did you get the Veil G4 and the photo Blur cover from?

I only have the VAG-COM (HEX-USB+CAN Interface) and a Radar Detector (Escort Solo S2). I ordered the VAG before my car showed up (my older VAG will not work with this car), had the Radar Detector before (0 tickets for my previous stage 3 B5 S4).

Yeah, the laser "protection" is probably worthless but for $100 I didn't really care since I got something like $20 of other product (on line along with rader detector) thrown in for free so I figured what the hell, it can't hurt. Compared to the cost of my S4 it's really irrelevant. With VagCom I will probably do the passenger side mirror dipping during backing (I have Prem+), daytime run lights not winking when turn signals are used, maybe the voice controls (not sure what is added by this), playing DVD's in motion for the passenger (oh well, why not since I can), and lowering all windows via remote (black interior in Houston!!!). Radar detector was a must because my old one died and VagCom was just a want, the rest is just fluff.

The OP either misspoke or misunderstands what Veil does. It's not for radar protection, it's for laser protection. Accordingly, the radar cross section of a car has nothing to do with it's susceptibility to radar. Veil actually works pretty well considering the 3 primary laser targets on a car our size are the 2 headlights and the license plate.

It's a physical interface cable so you can hook your PC to your car and make changes to the way the car behaves to small and relatively innocuous degrees (changing lighting characteristics, enabling things which are off by default or designed to be off unless you are in a specific country, etc.)
