Even if you don't do it all the time. Just a couple of times here and there. Cause thats what I've been doing. Should I just not go higher than 4krpm now? I'm at 400 miles

Some have different ideas about breaking in.

Some argue that the engines have been run at the factory, and no other breaking in is necessary.

I think that there needs to be some sort of breaking in using varied engine rpms and vehicle speeds.

Occasional spurts to a higher rpm range should not be bad. Just don't redline it too early.

Exactly!
As long as the engine is properly warmed up, you should be able (and probably recommended) to rev it above 5k RPM once in a while when below 1500 miles on ODO. It is probably better for it than cruising on the HWY at constant RPM for extended periods while breaking in...

400 miles? Drive away so long as she's warmed up.

thanks for the tip. That's what I've been doing...Rev up when merging onto freeways, and some city driving but I don't constant rev it up.

If you punch it for very long merging, you will be flying.
