Unfortunately, your first issue about losing the settings such as mix mode for the ipod is not something broken, just not a feature that was provided. Annoying, yes, but not something broken from what I've been reading. Mix mode is almost always the way I listen to an iPod. I'm coming from a VW that was useless with iPod connectivity. Even if I bought the expensive cable to connect, I would had to make playlists to line up with the CD slots and even then would not be able to see all details about the tracks.

Hopefully your other issues will be resolved. I've driven and ridden in plenty of cars in the lower/mid range, and I'm hooked on German autos. Leg room, head room, comfort, and performance....not listed in any particular order! I love my S4.
