I have a 2011 premium plus. Have really been wanting remote start and have been wondering:
1). Is this okay for the car or are there drawbacks to having one?
2). Is there any brand that works best with the S4?
3). How careful do I need to be about where I get this done? Is this pretty basic, or can things go wrong easily?

Thanks in advance - admittedly I don't know much about the mechanics and appreciate anything you all can share!

1. It's not great to just start the car and leave it idling when the engine is cold. Metal expands when it's heated, so when the engine is cold, it's not operating as efficiently and is also causing more wear. How much? I have no idea. Many car manufacturers are putting remote starters on from the factory so I guess it can't be that bad, or at least not bad enough to cause problems before the warranty is up. Personally I'd rather be cold for a few minutes rather than know my baby is outside idling cold, it's like shutting your car off when it's still cold...awful.

3. I'd just be concerned about the installer making a mess of all the wires incase you ever want to return it to stock. Also, are you in a DSG or 6MT? Most places won't install remote starters into manual cars because of liability.
