Yes, this means Audi is very comfortable with the 7200 rpm redline and the rev limiter is set a little higher. This is good because if the redline was set at the fuel shut off point, there is a greater chance of bouncing off the limiter which makes the driver (guilty a few times) look like an idiot.

Rev limiter nanny
The S4 is relatively quiet in the first place. I can't even rev the engine in the parking lot to let my friends know I've arrived or am about to depart.
On the other hand, my friend's new Maserati Granturismo S can make a lot of noise! Yet, I can edge him out in 0-60 sprints and the quarter mile.
What's up with that? Of course, the Maserati has a beefy V8 and costs 2 to 3 times as much... Still!

Yea my friends brand new 1 week old M3 already has a Gintani exhaust on it. He doesnt need to honk for me to know when hes outside my house, I can hear him two blocks away and pop out the second he pulls into the driveway LOL

I revved my audi 2013 a4 past the red line now it won't start.
my friend test drove my car last night, the schmuck went to red line & beyond a couple of times while driving, claiming it caught him off guard, specially on dynamic mode, the question is: why didn't the rev. limiter cut off power? also how bad could a couple of trips to 7200 rpm affect the engine?
