Default Ripping CD's to MMI

OK, so I have had great luck with doing all the VagCom mods except for one. I have enabled the MMI to rip CD's to the hard drive, but it doesn't work. It goes through the motions, sometimes it stalls for 1/2 hour, does nothing, and I have to reboot the MMI to get it going again. Sometimes it starts and in about 30 seconds it says it is doen, but the songs are not on the hard drive. Any suggestions? Not sure I even want this, but it has become a mission.

rip your CDs to an SD card and plug into the MMI.

Maybe that's why Audi didn't enable CD rips as a regular feature...never got the bugs worked out?

Is it supposed to write an uncompressed version to the MMI, or does it undergo some internal transcoding/compression before writing to the disk (e.g. like Infiniti does)?

I've had mixed success. There are some CD's that I've added without a problem and some that have not been successful. The ones that went into the MMI were older CD's. I don't know if that is relevant or not but I agree it is all hit or miss.
