I was looking more on a theoretical side. But on the terrain theses factors comes into account.

The Audi motor has direct injection and forced induction very similarly to the pioneering BMW N54 motor. What this allows is a higher compression to be run without detonation for much more low end power. It would be great if somebody can post or link to a stock SVT curve but a S4 or 335i curve looks very unique. Torque is an absolutely flat line up to 5k or so. A conventional supercharger setup will just boost power over the full range. Kind of like taking a NA motors curve and just shifting it up the scale...
