S-Tronic or Manual...what did you buy?
Just a simple poll to gauge the number of manual transmission vs. S-tronic cars out there. This is slanted to forum members who tend to be performance junkies, so that might intimate a greater portion of manual cars, but a dual clutch paddle shifted DSG is damn fun, especially if you're at a track day.
Anyway, simple question in the form of a poll. Please only answer if you own a B8 S4.

I went with the DSG b/c I've never driven a manual before - really need to learn how to drive one someday.
I do drive w/ the paddles, though. It's not the best for gas mileage but definitely more fun

When deciding between manual or automatic, the only question was do I want my lady to be able to drive my car? I got a manual, she can stick to her Rav4.
Automatics are just plain boring. Don't mean to offend someone who has build a very fast car, but if you watch a run video primetime has posted from in his car, the only time he moves his hands is to switch the camera on and off... Granted this is just one example and the car is going in a straight line, but hell, to me the experience of driving isn't found with two hands never moving from 10 and 2 with one foot being the only active part of my body.

Our cars are built to do more than go straight. :-D
If keeping two hands on the wheel allows me to go faster, then that's pretty fun, too. 23 years on manual transmission but I'm not really missing it much...

I've been driving manual transmissions since I was 14 - learned on a 1968 Case front loader w/10 speeds and 2 brakes (right and left wheel). I got the manual and I don't regret it in the slightest, but I do wonder whether or not my next car will be a DSG or not.
Example - the Audi TT-RS can do 0-60 in 3.6 w/ the european DSG and launch control. Without launch control it takes 4.5 seconds, which is a huge difference.

Both...bought a 2010 with dsg and then a year and a half later sold it and bought a 2012 with 6mt. Both are great transmissions and at time I miss the dsg but overall I love the interaction with the car in manual form.

Actually, Car and Driver managed 4.0 seconds flat with the manual in their latest issue. Still 4 tenths off what the DSG did, but probably loads more fun
